Worm Castings
Compostwerks now carries high quality 100% worm castings produced by Finger Lakes Organics. It is OMRI listed. In line with our commitment to testing our own compost, Finger Lakes Organics has documented the absence of Fecal Coliform and Salmonella. Since human pathogens cannot survive inside of a worm’s digestive tract, this supports their claim of this compost being 100% pure castings.

The independent testing performed by BBC Laboratories can be viewed by clicking here

We offer this fine material so that you have the option of adding a diversity of microbiology to your compost teas or use as a direct soil amendment.

It is available in 5 pound and 20 pound biodegradable cellulose bags as well as reusable 50 pound vinyl bulk bags.

What is the difference between Vermicompost and Pure          Worm Castings? Plenty!

The word "vermicompost" is used much like "compost". Many folks have no clue of how it is going to perform until they use it. Vermicompost contains worm castings and other organic matter that has not necessarily been fully composted. Do we know how much pure worm castings are found in vermicompost? Certainly not. The amount of pure worm castings will vary from batch to batch from one facility to another as well as the feed stocks used. Putting a few handfuls of worms into a compost pile does not necessarily produce a high quality vermicompost.

Finger Lakes Organics’ pure worm castings are just that - Pure Worm Castings. There are no variables. Each bag, each month and each year consistently delivers high quality worm castings. We have found this compost to be very shelf stable!
